Slow and Steady...

I did this a little while back but for one reason or another it sorta got lost in the mix. It's a class project based on an article in the April issue of Esquire about how young people (35 and younger) are essentially getting poorer as older people (65 and older) are becoming richer. The article covered several reasons for this but the gist of it was that our country tends to cater to the 65+ demographic at the expense of the younger crowd. I can't really say whether or not I agree with the article, but regardless it was an interesting read. I went back and forth with my professor on this before eventually landing on the concept below. I've also included a little bit of process work for good measure.

An Evening at Union Station

I meant to post this sooner to give anyone who might be in the area a chance to participate, but I kinda got caught up in other things. That said, if you're in the Kansas City area and don't have any plans tomorrow night from 6-9pm, I strongly suggest you attend this event! It's An Evening at Union Station sponsored by Youthfront. For only 15 bucks you get refreshments, the opportunity to see Union Station's popular Titanic Exhibit and to view (and buy) artwork by some very talented artists. I had the honor of participating as well! This event is to raise awareness for Youthfront's global initiatives, Something to Eat™ and Something to Drink™ which support efforts to relieve hunger and water crises. For those who can't make it check out my contribution below. Just make sure to cut me some slack- it's been a while since I've made anything that wasn't rendered in Photoshop.

You know what they say…

…You are what you eat! Sorry for my absence on here lately. You might remember from my previous post that I was preparing for a group show and graduation. Well, guess what. I'm graduated! So drop me a line, art directors. All play and no work, makes Brandon Loving a poor boy!

But I digress. What I really wanted to post was some new work. I did this illustration for What's Up magazine in Annapolis, MD a few months back but have been waiting for the published date and a copy so I could show you what it looked like in print. That would have been terrific except the mail here is terrible and I have yet to receive my copy. Oh well! When/if I finally get it I'll update this post but until then, here's the finished illo. The article was about overfed and undernourished Americans. Bon appétit!

Thanks again to AD, Sarah Hagerty! Have a great weekend everybody!
